A Mathematical expression is nothing but relationship between symbols. Good thing is that each symbol has a very concrete definition unlike words in our spoken language whose meaning can vary from one context to another. Some symbols are operators like ( +, - , / , *, etc. ), some are comparators like ( =, <, > etc. ) and some are just operands ( constants, variables ). Once you understand the meaning of each symbol, the equation will be self-obvious.

We are dealing with abstract concepts when we add or subtract numbers. In life, 1 apple and 1 orange cannot be added to form 2 oranges or apples. At the most, we can say that 1 apple and 1 orange together form 2 fruits thus bringing them into a set. Similarly 1 lion and 1 donkey together form 2 animals.

Thus 1 + 1 represents an abstract concept of adding two numbers which belong to the same set.

Not always. If you're adding apples, then 1+1 = 2. But if you're adding sine waves, then 1+1 does not equal 2.

well numbers is what you say it to be like language. BUT as a community, rather, a nation we have chosen to learn mathematics a specific way. Now you can choose that 1+1=6 but not everyone will be thinking the same way, therefor you will seem ignorant in their eyes(you know the way ppl are today).

Its a convention. If you dont like it go and publish 1+1=3.

Numbers are strange things, very useful but not neccesarily "real" or even mathematically neccesary. I read once in wikipedia that it its possible to do math without numbers at all.
