Mars is named for the Roman god of war and is sometimes called the red planet because it appears fiery red in Earth’s night sky.

Because of the red surface on it. It appears more red at further distances. Scientists believe it is the only other planet in our solar system capable of supporting life without major difficulties. They have found mico organisms there also.

Because visually from the Earth it's red.
The soil seems to a deep orange, like some Earth beach sand is a deep orange or tan. I suppose refraction through the Mars and Earth atomosphere also helps make this color.
