My pen drive is 512MB and i'm not able to delete files or format it.

It's 512MB.it has few files in which don't need anymore.i just used it for a period of roughly 6 months...i'm not able to delete the files in it nor able to format...when i try to format it shows me to remove write protection..so can u please tell me what to do(where to remove write protection).....hope i get the clear answer.
