I would recommend you dowload hijackthis, and have someone look at it first. They will tell you what you should or not delete from your registry. Also I would export a copy of your registry before attempting to mess with it. CCleaner, is another useful tool. It scans for registry errors and offers you the ability to back up the reg.
I have not had any luck with spybot, mainly because I use Ad-aware SE 1.06, CCleaner, and a good Anti-virus/firewall.

yes it should be safe to get rid of anything spybot finds.

I always do and had no problems so far

just remember that 1 program won't find everything so the more you run the more junk you will find - I run 4 at the moment and spybot is the only one that regularly does not find anything now but that is probably becuase the imunization stops what it does know about getting on there

Spybot sometimes finds 'false positives' things that are not really malware at all. Usually it is OK but you need a bit of common sense when running these types of programs.

If in doubt don't do it, or make a Restore Point before you run Spybot.

Say yes to all SPYBOT finds to delete/repair

in somecases SPYBOT needs you to reboot PC
after a registry entry is removed so it can clean up
the dll files used by the infection
