Okay so in March of 2007 I got into a car accident i didnt get hurt, but i haven't gotten my period since, i thought that it could be stress, but that was 5 months ago!!! I'm 16, i got my period when i was 10 and its been regular until now. I'm a virgin so i KNOW for a fact that i'm not pregnant. I was just wondering if this has happened to anyone else and some advice on what to do other than talk to my doctor. Thanks

I get the cramps and everything, and the PMS, but the bleeding never comes, not even spotting.

Okay sorry it was the beginning of march maybe even the end of February so its been at least 4 months. I'm not on any medication. I talked 2 my mom earlier about it (like 2 months ago) she said that its normal for your period to be irregular, haven't brought it up since then. i know i should tell her and i know its a safety thing, but i'm kind of doctor shy...

OK, it isn't normal, but it isn't bad either. If you are not sexually active~~ you HAVE to tell the truth~~ then you might just be having hormonal issues. I understand about the Doctor , but, there are some things talking wont fix. Your Dr can prescribe medication, such as birth control, to regulate your periods. This is not suggesting that you need the birth control part of it, but, in those little pills are hormones that will help fix this. Your Dr will be able to talk to you and find out what is going on, sometimes they have to do an exam. Please, don't freak out. This is a part of life no woman truly enjoys, but, its better to go through a few moments of embarrassment, than months and months of pain and bleeding. I would suggest you ask your mother to find you a female GYN. It really helps.
Good luck, and tell your mom what is going on, we are old, remember, but with age comes experience.

Lets see...since March, we had April, May, June....really only 3 months since March 2007. And yes stress could cause this...are you eating well, getting enough sleep, happy? Are you taking any kind of prescriptions at all? How bad was the car accident? Is everything over with it now, insurance, car fixed whatever? If so, try to really relax, think happy thoughts, get a little exercise but not too much, and I bet it will come back this month. Do you have a Mom or close family female to ask about stuff like this? You shouldn't be worrying about this on your own. If you don't have a mom or family female, then think about your friend's mom's and pick one you like and admire, and ask her to be your female "confidante". I'm sure she'd be happy and you'd have someone to count on.

Ya, it's normal after your body has a trauma. After 3 mos of no period you should see your doctor and she will give you medication to begin your period and get you back on track.

I had an accident at 17 and it did the same thing - then when I had surgery when I was 18 it did it again!

Missing your period for an extended amount of time can cause you to back up and puts you at risk for cancer. Not to freak you out - and I don't mean you HAVE cancer - but it is best to check it out. No use increasing your chances, you know? Especially when there is an easy solution :)

You'll be ok!

well i have 6 sisters, and you may think i dont know bout this kinda stuff, but i do. sumtymes the female body goes through changes , especially because you are still growing into your "woman" body. as well the stress from the accident may still be with you. even the slightest trauma on someone can cause an irregular or no period at all. but the best advice i can give would be if it stays like this for another month, go see your local O.B.G.Y.N and get checked out.but as for other things to do and reasons check here - http://womenshealth.about.com/cs/menstruation/a/lateperiod.htm

Are you eating less since the accident?
You can get secondary amenorrhea (a cease in menstrual periods) when you don't consume enough calories a day or from stress. Five months is really long though. It might be medications, excessive exercise, or polycystic ovary syndrome. You can use acupuncture to bring on a period. It worked when it happened to me. Good luck.

Hey bud, you should really go get an ultrasound just to make sure everything looks okay. You could have some stuff going on with your uterus! 5 months is a long time, are you having pain at all? You should get it soon, because its really not healthy (your endometrium needs to be shed every month) for you not to be having your period.

Are you eating properly? If not receiving the correct nutrition this can affect your periods. Are you taking medication? This can also affect it. It could be stress and it could be the fact your body got a shock and is taking a while to recover.

More seriously, the accident could have affected your fertility and women's health.

Hope this helps

It sounds like PCOS. Have your doctor run tests for it. I was undiagnosed for 23 years and am just now being treated for it. Google PCOS and see if you have any of the symptoms.

i think you should be open to your doctor. cause, he is there to help you, & you're paying for it. i know how you feel yea. i also feel shy. but, he knows the best. try drinking milk. or eat something with iodine in it. it helps. especially milk okay. (: i hope everything will be okay. all the best.
