Second method start the computer in safe mode select with answer with system restore on click no. restore the last restore point. take restart and ok

Press Ctrl-Alt-Del to start the task manager. Then click File-> New Task. In the field type "explorer.exe" and press "enter". Your menus should return.

Restart your computer and if it happens again then you might have messed up your pc by installing some bad software. Then restart again and keep pressing F8 again and again and then start in safemode. Once in safemode you should get icons and stuff there and from there choose scandisk to run next time you start. Then restart it and let scan disk run. hopefully it should sort out the matter.

right click the desktop, go to arrange icons, click show desktop. bring your mouse to the very bottom of the screen. it should turn into a black arrow pointing up. click and drag up.
if that doesnt work then i guess reboot

Start in safe mode and defrag the system. If that does not solve it then enter safe mode and remove the logon sound. If this file gets corrupted it CAN prevent everything else from happening next.

If you take your cursor down into the left hand corner, does it bring up your Start Menu? Or on the bottom right hand corner, the toolbar lock?
