I think it's just a big marketing plan to popularize soccer in the United States since it's not very popular here yet. Once they announced Beckham's contract, the soccer team he's with sold out all their tickets for the season in a few days, that never happened before.
The more hype the more jerseys get sold, the more tickets get sold, the more peopel watch the games, it's all about the money.

That's exactly who no one pays attention to the scientists or the ones saving the planet...it's not profitable enough

Yes. However much I disagree with some American policies and politicians, the country has done nothing to deserve these two nomarks.
They are both beyond satire as posturing pouting parasites.

No, because they're coming here to the States, where David Beckham could score 40,000 goals and nobody would care because nobody here likes soccer (and we certainly can't play it), and she's a Spice Girl...we stopped caring about them about five minutes after they released "Wannabe".
