i have timewarner cable and i want to get a cable card, but my mom says we have to pay subscription for the hbo, cinemax, and showtime. do i really have to??? i live in oxnard,ca. or are the hbo, cinemax, and showtime free.

HBO, Showtime, and Cinemax are considered premium services and ALL cable systems charge extra for them.

CableCARDs replace set top boxes so you don't have to have a box to get certain services, you can plug the cable directly into the TV set. Using a cableCARD you can get the premium channels but you must PAY for them.

CableCARDs can be activated, serviced and leased for a monthly fee from Time Warner Cable.

I get two free movie channels with my service - HBO and Cinemax. I have Comcast but you dont have to pay for a subscription if you have digital cable, you just pay for what ever movie you watch...sorry dont know much about timewarner

ask ur cable provider but i know for cablevision you get twom movie channls free depending on ur package.
