I was wondering how you can come in contact with big talent agencies such as United Talent, William Morris Agency, Creative Artists Agency, etc. I already checked their websites for submission info, but they didnt post anything about it.

does anyone know how i can send submissions?
should i just call them or send my portfolio?

Don't ever call them. You can mail them a headshot and resume like anyone else, however they will likely throw it straight in the trash. They do not acept unsolicited submissions. To be seen at agencies like that you have to be referred by someone inside the agency, a friend or client of someone inside, or you have to have done something big. If you were just in Transformers or Harry Potter, you could probably call them.

Otherwise, If you want to find a legitimate agent to represent you for commercials, TV & film go to Sag.org. Use the dropdown menu on the right labeled 'resources' and choose 'agent information'. On the next screen, on the left choose 'Find a SAG franchised agent' and follow the directions. You can look up agents all over the US, but there are higher concentrations where the work is (Los Angeles, NY, IL, FL, GA etc.)

Then you can send them your headshot, resume, and a cover letter stating that you are seeking representation and wait to see if they call you in for an interview.

Once you have an agent, they will get you the auditions, but until then you can check out actorsaccess.com. You can also see if your state has a film alliance. Sometimes they post audition information for projects filming locally. For theatre, you can go to backstage.com or http://www.actorsequity.org/castingcall/... If you find the audition on the Equity site, you still may be able to go, as long as their not taking appointments from equity actor's only :-) On backstage.com you have to pay to get all of the info, but the initial search is free and you may be able to see enough info to find out the rest on your own without paying.

Perhaps you will work your way up to one of the big agents, but remember that bigger isn't always better. If you're not Julia Roberts, they may forget about you.

Good luck.

I send e-mails to agents all of the time. It keeps me on the go. However, I send them all of the info they need to know about the show I do. If you wait for them to contact you, then you could be waiting. Be sure to have headshot ready. You realy don't need a resume (unless you have one ready) Most do a screen test and they keep it on file.

With regards to headshots you don't need alot of coppies. Be sure to have the picture on disc. Now most of the casting is done through the net.

Tell the agent what is unique about yourself and what kind of work you are looking for. Be honest with what you tell them.

The fee to join the agency should never be more then $50 per year.

Do not let them take your headshots. Have a pro take them for you.

Just e-mail them and they will set u up.

All the best with your acting & have fun.

You don't contact them, they contact you, when you are ready.

They will only handle people with series or leading roles in movies.

Most agents will not touch you unless you are at least SAG Eligible.

Remember it's $1900 to join SAG one payment, Certified Check or Money Order.
