The venom isn't deadly, unless you would happen to be allergic to it. It will hurt like he** though!

Rabbits are usually peaceful to other fish (and you when you're cleaning the tank), but if they feel threatened (or a predator attacks them) they will use the spines to defend themselves. The same is true for tangs - they have a spine on the sides of their body just in front of their tail which is very sharp and they "slash" rather than use venom for defense. This scale has earned the general group the names of "surgeonfish" or "doctorfish" because the spines are supposedly "as sharp as a doctor's scalpel".

First off, if your tank is only big enough for one tang, don't get another. It's not fair to the tang.

And the best way to get information on the rabbitfish would be to talk to the people who work at the petstore it's at, if it's a good petstore.

I would try Google, though, if it isn't a good shop. Google is a great source of info on such things.

Kelly, since you don't accept email, this is an extension of the trailer issue.

When you give him his shots, see about using little bitty needles, thin in dimension and short. Some horses are really sensative to those big needles. My good mare is, she swells up and gets a knot if I use a "normal" horse size needle. Also, we tend to get just as nervous as them and "jam" the needle into the muscle. Try taking a deep breath and letting it out while you slide them the shot.

Another tactic that my vet showed me is one he picked up on the track. Do it while the horse is in motion. Have one person leading the horse, the other walking by the neck, hand holding needle resting on neck. Just keep him walking forward when you slide the shot to him. This way he is not focused on the shot and moving away from you. He is already moving.

However, if he continues to load in the trailer (and I would load him a few times here and there without the shot, just the treats) I would continue with that. Go with whatever works for both of you.

Good luck hun!

Actually if you are talking about the fox face rabbit fish they are quit peaceful. tangs a very aggressive. Rabbit fish are a great addition to your tank"lots of character" they are poisonous, just use cation when putting you hand in your tank. they wont attack you or anything. they only sting in defence. If you are stung just hold the stung area under hot running water. It wont kill you but it does sting for awhile. as far as tangs just make sure they aren't in the same family.

people who've in no way had a salt tank or adequate persistence to start one accurately allow you to comprehend freshwater is "extra convenient" although that may no longer actual. Salt water fish are actual extra convenient to have and much less upkeep than clean water fish are. I even have the two and characteristic had the two for some years. the foremost to salt water vs. clean water is persistence. commencing wisely and not rushing is the foremost to a efficient salt tank. I choose salt to freshwater and consistently have. My first tank grow to be salt and according to hazard because of the fact of this. Fish protecting is fish protecting the regulations are in actuality the comparable. Salt water fish are actual extra hearty than freshwater fish are. they could stay in water circumstances that are consistently changing they should coming from the sea and sea. From temperature flux's besides as salinity flux's. they are additionally much less in all probability to settlement ailments than are clean water. Swimbladder, cloudy eye, parasites oftentimes are much less in all probability to hit a salt tank. The price isn't that incredibly extra the two. ordinary cleansing isn't weekly and the older the tank, the less cleansing that's mandatory. Saltwater fish additionally do no longer discharge waste like clean so which you do no longer see "droppings" interior the tank and there are no to freshen up. working a skimmer enables allievate the choose for weekly water variations. testing will be sure while to alter out water. A 350 gallon reef that I even have gets replaced out as quickly as each 6 months to eight months counting on the water exams. The skimmer pulls out the inorganics from the water so which you in no way have waste rotting interior the tank. The shells and dolomite shop the water calcium and PH perfect. clean water fish are no longer as hearty and maximum are no longer even organic lines at present. organic mollie and guppie lines are quite a lot non existant besides as different tropicals being bread down. salt water fish even if some are tank bread are specifically wild caught, there fore protecting the purity of the fish severe. Ich, even if it does take place takes place not often in salt water. Salt water fish tend to be a lot extra colourful and unique with a a lot extra desirable form. and with the introduction of the inverts, and corals is endless. Salt fish tend to have longer lifespans than do clean water fish. All in all I choose salt over clean, yet that's in basic terms my opinion. Even for a newbie, salt is easier.
