im 15 and i opened a savings account 4 months ago. because i am a minor my parents had to sign for me to get the account. however, all the money inserted into the account i worked for by myself.
My parents applied for food stamps last year and they gave my parents too much money. We were told we would have to pay the money back. My parents said no they were not going to pay it back because it was the governments mistake, not ours.
so, this month i get my bank statement. i have $16 in there. i was trippin out because i know i had $366 in there. i have my bank receipts for the money and everything.
apparently since the account was in my moms name, the government found out about it and went in and got their money back. but the money was not my moms, it was all mine, i worked for it!!
I lost $350 that i was going to use to fix up my mustang with since i get my license in october. Now i have $16 to fix it with...good luck huh.

its a 1980 that my mom bought when she started driving, its not new.
i have gave my parents money for food and bills, i help out too.

What a bad break for you my dear.
I would not be happy if that happened to me.
Rules or rules however, and many do take advantage of them.
You are the victim here and that is the shame of it all.
Please try to understand the situation for what it is and do not let it cause you to become a bitter person.
That would hurt only you.

What's selfish is letting them stay in a house with an abusive father. Maybe he isn't attacking them now, but you never know with psychopaths. It's also selfish to let the kids KNOW that they are the reason he's still there and hitting you. You should LEAVE. You wouldn't have to live in a shelter, you could contact a charity of some sort or an organisation and they would sort you out, get you an apartment maybe. No promises, but I know they could really help you, like the Salvation Army. The kids don't need a car, expensive clothes, toys and a big house, they need a safe house. Anyway, the husband could pay alimony, and child support, see if he doesn't! Good Luck, and ditch the -------!

I am sorry that the 'governing agency' saw fit to take your personal account, but truly they weren't after you, just Mom! Get a lawyer and sue. raise such a stink in the paper all the bums that don't work and take a kids money that does work.
I guess they needed the money to give to some drug addict or crack mom popping kids and leaves them at the hospital drug addicted and all kinds of problem.
Our government at work managing our tax dollars !

then i know, there is nothing i can do in this matter,
even if i decide to have a legal fight, i may require a lot time
before i get the justice... may be years and years...
now i reconside my self at 51, so i tell you "what to do"
believe you me,
make this incident as a REASON to RAISE yourself to
the heighest level of SUCESS in future so none can
do what you are faceing now and also you can be helpful to
those who at that time passing through troubles like you at present,
make your self the strongest and the powerful to help
your-self anf others who need your help...
(you know, why you are not getting help from other right now..
only because the people are not that much powerful/stronger
to help you... they are weak...)

I AM SO SORRY THAT HAPPENED TO YOU.....
I KNOW HOW IT IS.....I AM A SINGLE MOM AND JUST HAD MY LITTLE BOY 4 MONTHS AGO.....AND AFTER PAYING ALL MY BILLS I LITERALLY HAVE $200 LEFT OVER TO PAY FOR GAS AND ALL THE BABY NEEDS.....
AND I DIDN'T GET APPROVED FOR W.I.C. CAUSE I MADE $50 OVER TO QUALIFY....BUT THEY DON'T ASK ABOUT ALL YOUR BILLS!
IT SUCKS!

You should try to get that money back since you have proof that it wasn't the earnings of your parents.

EDIT : so this kid was NOT eating then to the reply down below me..................and yes I don't think its that fair but sorry in the UK your kids can NOT have savings above a certain amount regardless of if it for school or what or that IS taken into account for the entire households income............
and to the poster sorry I thought you had bought the mustang to then do up............but I think you might well NOT have a case as food stamps is a means tested allowance...ie have too much money then you are no longer eligible hence why they took the money away.

Her parents WERE on foodstamps. Are kids of people that have been on foodstamps not allowed to have Mustangs??
Contact Legal Aid in your county. They will tell you what your next step is.

wow,that sucks i feel 4 ya really do!!!
1.) never trust banking system,they always get youALWAYS.
2.) never inter system wic,cps,gov,once they have your #,s.
3.) help from them you never ever need,trust me.
4.) they help by taking,freedom,time,home,things,kids.
5.) in the end you lose everthing so:do it yourself allways!
