Ummm ... I'm currently already a model (not really well known yet). I haven't met up with my agent for a while, but have been doing some photoshots. I was wondering, what wil it take to become an actress,i mean i applied for this acting agency and they said, for me to go to acting school first. So do you think i should go to the acting school they refered,or jus find another agency?

Agents aren't supposed to recommend a particular acting school. Who's the agent and where arethey located? Did you pay them anything? Have they paid you for these photo shoots or did they ask you to pay them? Legit agents get paid AFTER they get you a job and they only get 10%, not more than that.

If your agent asked for money or told you that to be an actor your had to take these expensive classes first, then you're being ripped off.

You should absolutely get training and go to classes, but not through any place that promises you the world for a few hundred or a few thousand bucks.

If you want to find a legitimate agent to represent you for commercials, TV & film go to Sag.org. Use the dropdown menu on the right labeled 'resources' and choose 'agent information'. On the next screen, on the left choose 'Find a SAG franchised agent' and follow the directions. You can look up agents all over the US, but there are higher concentrations where the work is (Los Angeles, NY, IL, FL, GA etc.)

Then you can send them your headshot, resume, and a cover letter stating that you are seeking representation and wait to see if they call you in for an interview.

Once you have an agent, they will get you the auditions, but until then you can check out actorsaccess.com. You can also see if your state has a film alliance. Sometimes they post audition information for projects filming locally. For theatre, you can go to backstage.com or http://www.actorsequity.org/castingcall/... If you find the audition on the Equity site, you still may be able to go, as long as their not taking appointments from equity actor's only :-) On backstage.com you have to pay to get all of the info, but the initial search is free and you may be able to see enough info to find out the rest on your own without paying.

Good luck.

YOu didn't say where you are. If you are in Los Angeles go to LACC or LA VALLEY and take Acting 1.

LA Valley is headed by Peter Parkin who holds an MFA from Pasadena Playhouse and had his own acting toupe. He's really good, but his motif is improvisational from the Joseph Chaulkin school of thought.

When I knew him his significant other had been on the Smothers Brothers show for two years as both Singer and Dancer and had a resume that would knock your socks off and he brought her into the class as a student to help her chops.

I think the advice was good...but you don't have to go to school to get acting experience. Every area has community theater...look it up in your area and go audition for a part. You have to have experience, and this is the easiest way. Once you've got experience, your agency (or any other) will take you more seriously.

if you don't have any experiences in acting, maybe it's advisable to take acting classes because it develop your confidence and build your acting personality.. but for me.. it's best to express your self in the character.. you have to feel the presence of the character and act like you're the character.. i won the best supporting actor in our play "fly trap" and best performer in the play "rent". practice yourself in the mirror. do some creative expression that can bring the theater presence in you!! God Bless.. Believe in your self!!

if you've never acted, you should definitely take some classes, it'd be a big switch from just modeling.
