♥ Frankly, a tad bit! ♥

At any rate, Friday the thirteenth is one of those days we as people seem to avoid where I am included in that same category. Just today my cat wasn't feeling well! But the day itself has a peculiar history!

♥ It is considered bad luck in English, German, Polish and Portuguese-speaking cultures around the globe. In Greece or Spain, for example, Tuesday the 13th takes the same role.

♥The Last Supper which is supposed by popular Christian belief to have been on Thursday, with Judas numbered among the thirteen guests. The Crucifixion of Jesus which is supposed by popular Christian belief to have occurred on a Friday. However, Judas was not actually present for the latter part of the meal.

♥On a Friday the 13th in 1306, King Philip of France arrested the revered Knights Templar and began torturing them, marking the occasion as a day of evil.

♥Both Friday and the number 13 were once closely associated with capital punishment. In British tradition, Friday was the conventional day for public hangings, and there were supposedly 13 steps leading up to the noose.

♥Sailors were particularly superstitious in this regard, often refusing to ship out on a Friday. According to unverified legend (very likely untrue), the British Navy commissioned a ship in the 1800s called H.M.S. Friday, in order to quell the superstition. The navy selected the crew on a Friday, launched the ship on a Friday and even selected a man named James Friday as the ship's captain. Then, one Friday morning, the ship set off on its maiden voyage... and disappeared forever. A similar, entirely factual story is the harrowing flight of Apollo 13.

♥The fear of Friday the Thriteenth is called paraskevidekatriaphobia ♥

♥Here's some fun trivia about the infamous day.

♥December 13th, 1940: Hitler commands an invasion plan that was given the code name "Marita". The plan was carried out in April 1941. Or in other words, invasion of Greece.

♥ The number 13 is considered so unlucky that many hotels and office buildings don’t have a thirteenth floor or room. Instead they skip right over to the fourteenth floor. But why do so many feel that this number is unlucky? Well, it’s been told in the Bible that Adam and Eve were expelled from the Garden of Eden on Friday, the flood that Noah had to build an ark for also began on a Friday.

♥On the contrary-On the other hand, the Egyptians at the time of the pharoahs considered 13 lucky, because they believed life unfolded in 12 stages, and that there was a 13th stage-the afterlife-beyond. That meant the number 13 symbolized death-as a happy transformation. Egyptian civilization perished, but the symbolism of the number 13 lived on as fear of death. (In Tarot decks the "Death" card bears the number 13 but retains its original, positive meaning: transformation.)

Friday the 13th is the day that follows Thursday the 12th and comes before Saturday the 14th.
Usually it is either my lucky day, or the same as all the rest. I can get 'bad luck' or 'good luck' on any day of the year.
