If you read the manga you'd already know that he dies. I never knew they ended it there in the anime though. That kinda sucks. If so you should read the manga becuz it doesnt end there...

i heard there will be one more special episode coming just to show what happen to the world when kira was gone. But I'm not sure yet.
Near still has one deathnote in his possession. I hope they can make a story from there. I'm still hoping for another Deathnote sequel!!

Unfortunately yes it is indeed the end. The manga has a little bit more info than the Anime had but the anime is Finished at epp 37

what i thought there is only one season 37 episodes in all?
yup if you read the manga chpater 107 curtain fall and chapter 108: end it contains it i was really shock when i read it
note:

Sadly, this is the end of death note. I believe the writer doesn't plan to write any more on the subject. The manga is seized and the anime is also. *weeps* WHY?? It was so good!!!
