Tell her that you are not your sister. Tell her that you are trying to be the best person you can be, and she should be proud of the person that you are. Give her some good examples of how bad you could be, then say "At least I am not like that." I won't work, but you will feel better.

Say, "Oh, well you know, I always thought she was great, too. I always admired her secretly. Who do you think will admire me, or love me? Who, Mom?"
Then look directly into her eyes, and stare at her, like you are the lonliest person in the world. Feel the pain, and transmit it.
Then hug her. If she doesn't hug back, don't ever do anything for her again.

tell her your you and that your not going to change.
sure your older sister might be great person, but if you like yourself, then you wont have a problem telling your mother that your happy with yourself.
tell her your not going to change for her or anyone.
honestly, i know it sucks, becuase u probably feel like your mom loves your sister more right?
well im sure she doesnt, but she might be proud of her.
do something to make your mom proud, your not changing, just accomplish something. ;]

First thing to remember: Never yell at her or shout in front of her. Then, apologize to her. Tell her that you are very sorry you're not like your elder sister and you will do your best to live up with her expectations.

Tell her every person weren't born alike, especially in characters. And tell her that by comparing, does she mean she dislike u? Otherwise, stop comparing. Sometimes u just needa voice up to ur parents...i did and now they respected me. My case was, they tend to compare me with my cousins who is way smarter in education only. Currently am earning lots more then them and that proofs to them am not a failure.

I agree with just about everyone here... you need to tell your mom that you are NOT your sister... You can say to her, "I know, isn't it God's great cosmic joke to give parents two completely different children?? It keeps you on your toes doesn't it?"

This is an answer to your Mom.
Madam,
In my childhood I had the same experience what your kid(?) faces now. Please don't compare your children. It will have bad effect. The kid will be disappointed. At the same time why don't you encourage the kid by motivating him to improve his deeds.

Yeah, mom, she's great and I love her too. I am so glad you can see how unique and special we are. I am not her and never will be so you need to see me for who I am!
