Although highly improbable, anything is possible. The Yankees have to start playing like a team instead of highly paid individuals. Their pitching has to come around and their relief pitching will be a key. 10 games is not insurmountable but they should be eyeing the wildcard not the division.

Here goes the fourth time that I have answered this question in the last two days. It basically is a math question. The Yankees have 76 games left and are 43-43. The Red Sox are 54-34 and have 74 games left. If the Red Sox were to play .500 ball for the rest of the season, they would finish 91-71. To catch them and force a tie under those circumstances, the Yankees would have to go 20 games over .500 or 48-28 (.632) for the rest of the year. Could it happen? Conceivably, but the odds drop for every game over .500 that the Red Sox play from now on. Will it happen? I hope not.

Frankly, not at all. They won't even get the wild card. They will certainly make a push to make things interesting in august and September, but it will be too little, too late.
The sooner the Yankees ditch Brian Cashman and start developing their own farm-league talent again, the sooner the Yankees start another dynasty.
The Yankees are in dire need of a major organizational shake-up.

Are you kidding?? Best joke of the day!! The Yankees will not even make the playoffs, and remember, that is the first step toward even playing in the World Series. With their pitching staff, they are lucky to finish above 500.
Chow!!

It is certainly possible. They were further back in 1978 when they came back to make the playoffs. Half of their team has been under performing, while a few have been outstanding. It is possible, but most likely won't happen. Which makes me sad, as I love the Yankees.

I suppose they do. Basically I think the yankees have enough titles for now. I am hoping the Mets get it myself. But would love to see it go somewhere different like Detroit, Seattle, maybe even Milwaukee.
