I threw away a statement from my insurance company stating that they were paying for the care of my son after he was born. I thought I had put him on my insurance because of that letter, but apparently I forgot to completely submit it, so the insurance company said they are not covering him because I did not get him on my insurance within 45 days of his birth. The cost was $3,600 for hospital stay + 1 years worth of medical costs.

If I had not lost that statement, I would have easily won my appeal.

In 1993 my mom bought me a TY Beanie Baby named Brownie. I took the tag off and threw it away. In the year 1998 when the beanie baby craze hit, I found out that this plush toy would be worth 5000 dollars if it had it's tag. But since it didn't have a tag it was worth about 2000 dollars. Now this beanie baby is worthless, dollar wise because nobody collects these anymore. But it has a sentimental value because my mom bought it for me.

I was actually digging through a bunch of old dishes and things that belonged to my husbands grandmother a few years after she died, they had been stored in our basement. I decided I needed to clean out the basement a bit and just started pitchng stuff and came accross a pitcher that I knew went to a set of dishes I had thrown in my trash can. I put the pitcher on Ebay and it brought exactly $250 after 7 days on auction. So it ended up being a crocus pattern of Hall dishes. So its hard to say how much $$ the rest of the stuff would have brought........sadly the trash man went!

I accidentally threw away a bullet casing that was shot off at my grandpas funeral. They had this whole ceremony that honored the time he was in duty. It had no 'money' value but it held a significant personal value, and I still regret it.

No, but I've willfully thrown things away or destroyed things (even cash) that had significant value.
I'm not much of a materialist, in American terms, at least.

Just my dreams of becoming the first professional male basketball player in the WNBA. But it was worth it to become a Daddy. Yay for kiddies.
