Like Meg and Dia, The Vincent Black Shadow, Paramore, etc. Idk why I like it so much but lately I've really been into rock with female singers. I'm sure I have nothing to worry about but my guy friends always get embarrased or upset when I put on TVBS or any other rock group with a girl.

No. There are plenty of rock bands fronted by women who make excellent music. Garbage (Shirley Manson) and the Pretenders (Chrissie Hynde) are two of my faves. And besides, Vincent Black Shadow is named after one of the all time coolest, most sought after motorcycles ever.

Now, if you start listening to folkie chick singers, then you may have some gender identification issues.

Well i think your question has been answered, but let me make you feel even less weird about it. I am a 36 year old guy, and i like all those bands as well.

I have seen all of them live. Meg & Dia are awesome (and the whole band is very nice), I have seen them live 5 times. They often hang out and talk after the show, and are very appreciative of the support they have gotten thus far. Sure I felt weird at first, but what the hell you only live once.

I grew up loving music. I was into Metallica, Ozzy, Dio, AC/DC, Judas Priest etc. I guess I'm softening up a bit in my old age, but lately I really enjoy the sound of female lead singers.

I don't think there is anything wrong with it at all. In the current climate of the music business (illegal downloading), these independent bands can use all the support they can get.

So if you like them, buy their CD, wear their T-shirt, and go to the shows. When you score that picture of Meg, or Haley, or Cassandra with their arm around you by the merch table, let them call you gay then!

Joan Jett (and)of the blackharts, Chrissie Hynnes of the Pretenders, Stevie nicks of fleetwood mac , Wendy O. Williams (rip) of the plasmatics, Pat Benatar, the Wilson Sisters AND OF COURSE JANIS JOPLIN! THEY RULE! Ok there is a difference between these chicks who sing this wierd pop crap and chicks that rock and roll. Tell your friends that there is nothing wrong with liking female vocalists, despite the fact that rock is usually a boy's club. If your watching like lindsay lohan or hilary duff i can see where they are coming from, but otherwise tell them to **** off because rocker chicks rule! you should not listen to people with such bias and stereotype, because it is up to you to decide what you listen too, and if your friends are ***** about it tell them to lay off, because you have every right to listen to chicks that rock. - Peace

Zorak says, "Your friends are the ones with the problem. While I am unfamiliar with these groups, what the hell, they are rock, aren't they? They aren't Britney Spears, or elevator music, right? Then, WTF? Look at Joan Jett and the Blackhearts. Look at Pat Benatar. What about Heart? Do your friends have their heads up their collective a,s.s.es? It shouldn't matter!!!! What about the Pretenders? Just because there is a female lead singer shouldn't make you "gay" or effeminate. That is weird. I think you need new friends."

Na. I personally swear by bands like sleater-kinney (Janet Weiss is one of THE BEST drummers alive), cat power (great voice), laura veirs (genius song writer), metric, blonde redhead, ladytron, camera obscura: they're all really gret bands with female lead singers, and I don't feel weird about listening to them. However, Interpol is the better than everything. They are indestructible human gods, it is both gay and weird to NOT like them.

Talent is talent no matter what the packaging is.
What a dull and uneventful world it would be if you all had the same tastes in everything.
Diversity is just one of the worlds best strong points.
There is more to draw from.
Enjoy the fact that you are an individual.

hell no it doesnt make u gay...personally i rarely listen to bands with girl singers tho, but the sorta bands i like dont have female singers these days, i like guns n roses style rock...like velvet revolver and buckcherry and so on....i listen to a little of Lita Ford, (the female singer from the "hair metal" era in the 80's) and dude she was damn hot!! and a good singer, also my best friend listens to Flyleaf, and they have a female singer, and i know hes not gay....or at least he better not be haha...but seriously, no it doesnt mean ur gay, u probly enjoy lookin at a hot girl while jammin to the music u like...i know i like girls that jam to rock, so why not a girl singin in a rock band?

dude dont worry about it, its fine to like whatever you like thats what makes you different thats what makes the world different, can you imagine what it would be like if all guys only liked heavy bands and rap and girls only liked pop and soft bands...it would suck! no diversity

as for being gay nothing and I mean nothign is going to make anyone gay thats something you either are or not dont worry about it plus not all gay men are fem anyways you shouldnt believe stereotypes...

as for girl bands I suggest something other than Paramore c'mon man get some No Doubt or Heart or Garbage or something not that crap...paramore sucks!!!!

What's the matter with you? Why would you even ask this question? Being sexually attracted to another dude makes you gay, not enjoyment from listening to women sing. Sometimes I'll listen to Joni Mitchell and Slayer on the same road trip.
