I am travelling to Sydney soon and was wondering if anyone knew how long it would take to drive from Horsby to Tarango Zoo on a Thursday. I have never driven in Sydney before and also would love to know if anyone can suggest the quickest and easiest way. I am in Perth - our freeways are simple!!

Hi Jen,
I was born a raised in Perth (Mosman Park) and now live in Sydney so I know how scary it can be driving in Sydney for the first time. Depending on the time of the day you travel will determine how long it will take. In peak hour it can take you has long as an hour and a half maybe more. Peak our times are
6:00am 10:00am then 3:00pm to 7:00pm

Normal times I would allow up to one hour to get there. You will be driving down the Pacific Highway that means there are hundreds of traffic lights to get though as well as morning and afternoon 40k school zones.

If you don't already know Sydney has transit lanes during peak hour times. That means you can only drive in those lanes if you are in a Bus, Taxi, Motor Bike and Car if you have 3 or more people in the vehicle. The lanes are clearly marked with signs.

If you go to the site below click on get directions then you can type in where you are traveling from (Hornsby), to where you won’t to go (Bradleys Head Rd
Mosman) and it will show you a map.

Taronga Zoo
Bradleys Head Rd
Mosman NSW 2088

Email: tz@zoo.nsw.gov

The main thing to remember is not to panic if you miss a turn off. Just go with the flow till you can turn around and get back on track. I hope you enjoy your stay in Sydney and if you need anymore information please feel free to email me.

Depending on traffic - which depends on the time of day - it could take anywhere from 45 minutes to an hour and a half.

Seriously, the best way to get to the Zoo, particularly if you are a visitor is to go by public transport. Take the train to Wynyard and change to a train to Circular Quay (or walk down the hill to the Quay from Wynyard).
Buy a combined ticket to the Zoo. This includes return ferry fare across the Harbour, the bus or the cablecar (recommended) to the top of the Zoo and zoo entry. You walk down the hill through the Zoo, emerging at the bottom for a short stroll back to the ferry.

If you drive, you park at the top of the Zoo and then catch a bus or the cablecar back to the top when you finish at the bottom.

Unless you are very fit and like mountain climbing, do not walk up through the Zoo from the bottom to the top.

specific specific specific having travelled the international and been to zoos in lots of international locations indisputably the basically right is Taronga Sydney is my abode city and whilst asked by utilising travellers the place to circulate I continuously placed Taronga on the appropriate of the record and the basically right thank you to get there is evidently by utilising ferry now there are some people preferring those super open area styles of zoos the place you will possibly be able to wish topersistent around yet that may not a actual zoo adventure (for my section)
