my friend told me that when i jump from a building and falling down is called free fall. but i learned that free fall is falling without air resistance. when i am falling down there is air resistance.
can anyone explain better about free fall to me?

Free fall is falling when no other force except gravity is acting.

For calculation in Physics class we assume that there is no air resistnce etc and we consider the fall as free fall.

If vacuum is created and the experiment is done in vaccuum we can call it as free fall.

Strictly speaking jumping from a building is not free fall.

Free fall in physics is a theoretical idea. Falling without any wind resistance simplifies the math and makes it easier to teach. If you had to factor in the wind's resistance to your fall, it would seriously complicate the math. And the harder math would distract from the point of the lesson. So, basic physics assumes "ideal" conditions where only the fundamental forces are applied.

Free fall in the real world, especiall sky diving, refers to falling without any means of slowing yourself down. No parachute, descender cable, etc. Jumping off a building would be called free fall because you are not being slowed by anything other than your body's own wind resistance.

If you jumped out of a plane at an altitude of 10,000 feet, gravity would cause your body to accelerate downward. In the first few seconds, your speed would increase rapidly. However, as your speed increases, aerodynamic drag increases as well, creating a force on your body that partially counters gravity. So, you would accelerate less and less, meaning your speed would keep increasing, but it would increase more and more slowly.

Eventually, you would reach "terminal velocity", and you would stop accelerating. At this speed, the aerodynamic drag force exactly matches the force of gravity. If you had your arms and legs spread, your terminal velocity would be about 120 mph. If you tucked into a ball, your terminal velocity would be about 200 mph. You would continue to fall the rest of the way at this speed.

If there was no air, you would accelerate all the way down, gaining speed the entire way. For a long fall, you'd hit the ground going much, much faster than if there were air to slow you down.

I learned in Physics that TRUE free fall is without air resistance. Sky divers and such just call it that.
