Though he is on the decline now there is no doubt about his greatness.
Can you forget the two back to back centuries in Sharjah against Australia in 1998 or the 90+ scored against Pak in 2003 WC which are etched in memory.

See we believed that Sachin was the greatest for so long it still hasn't hit some people that he is slacking down maybe due to his age. There is no doubt in saying he is a extremely talented player in many aspects but i personally believe he has lost half of his original skill, and not all due to ageing.
However he is not a very predictable player, so at times even when he is playing in best form we cannot help but cheer him on. But i think i would have to admit he is truly one of the great indian players especially in the late 90's.

I totally agree. I think that the reason is that Indian are very, very into cricket. Ocasionly claiming it as a god. So whenever someone who is even up there they pretend they dominate. They overate all there players you should see the wikipedia article for Harbhajan Singh. Ponting is the stand out of very modern batting times. 9368 runs at 59.23, compared to 10922 at 55.44. While Ponting is on track to break records for the most tests, runs, and 100s while likely (if Hussey's average finally fades) the 2nd highest ever test average. Unless of course you're talking the supposed cricket, One Day Cricket, then Tendulkar has the most man of the match awards, most runs and most 100s.

Yes.Sachin is unarguably great in,my opinion the GREATEST.He has proved that he is the best batsman the world had ever seen(his statistics speaks for him).He more than a useful bowler(Only bowler who can swing the ball bothwise, bowl medium pace, off break, leg break, wrist spin, arm ball, and what not?).He is a Decent fielder with a great throwing arm.

I think he used to be a great batsman. He started at a young age and he was really good back then. But not anymore.
