Yes!
First off, Gas!! You think a sports car is bad, try a boat. You'll easily burn through 50l or more of gas in a few hours of playing around.
Then there's marina fees for storage or winterizing (if applicable), maintenance, insurance - It all adds up. Boats are not a cheap thing to have

All boats are expensive to maintain. When you go in the store and mention the part is for a boat, the price just went up.

yes for high octane fuel, if you want it looking nice, if you want your engines to keep their quality.
ways to save money are:
-get gasoline on land by the use of a boat trailer. Getting gas on the water is much more expensive. I have a boat and getting regular gasoline has saved me boatloads.
-don't keep it in the water. it will develope water marks, algae, and barnacles(if a salt water boat)
-wash it every time you use it. My boat is 10 years and because of my care to it early on, it looks like less than a year old.
-use a boat cover so the beating sun won't take a toll on the paint job, or dry in any spots you missed during the wash.
-Get locks for the lower units of your engines(mine were stolen and i had to spend 2000 on new ones)
-make sure its kept in a place where animals can't get into it, or people can't get into it. the last thing you want is stolen property or finding an animal stoed away in a compartment you never use.
all you need to do is care for it like it is your last day using it. pay attention to any oddities you notice as well. I heard a noise in my engines that a mechanic said was a problem. If i had kept that engine running, my whole engine shaft would have snapped and i would have had to spent 10000 on a new engine.
hope you enjoy the boat, it has brought many fun times to my life

Come to Michigan, they're going for a dollar a dozen, the home of fishing and boating. With the price of gas no one is boating for fun. My boat, with a 278 Merc IO has been sitting for two years, with gas use about ten gallons a trip, plus getting to and, on the lake (Huron) you need a part time job.

they're cheap now ! all boats are expensive to maintain, they usually slow bleed you to death (Nickel & Dime), I have a 15' "Whaler", I broke my *** on it this year prepping it (it has some Mahogony trim on it), I launched it, and upon passing the fuel dock, I actually had "Wolf whistles" cause my "Mahogany" (I'm not gonna say "WOOD") looked so great, I said to myself "Yea, I love working on boats, it relaxes me" two weeks ago there were sparks, wrenches, and curses coming out from under that hull.

Depends on the model, but prepare to pay more for the fuel and pay more attention to the engines as well.

Yes, like fast cars.
Get one with a diesel engine if you want better fuel economy and longevity.
