im switching from cingular to verizon and i want to keep my number. my contract is up wit cingular on the 17th..when should i start my contract with verizon? because if i get a account wit them before the 17th, then would it cancel the cingular account automatically? and would i get charged a fee for early termination? or should i do it after the 17th? and is there any fee to pay to bring a number over to another carrier?

from what i understand, lot of Co's r wavier the fees to switch over & keep u'r #. MAtter of fact they r encouraging it. Some Co's also will cxl the other acct for u. U really should ck w/ Verizon if u'r switching to them. U can e-mail them. Jst go to http://www.verizonwireless.com & CLICK on customer service & send them u'r ?'s. I've always had good success w/ them onlne.

& by the way... welcome to Vzn! ( from 1 2 anthr) ;-)

If you plan to switch to Verizon, then you first have to wait after your contract ends from Cingular otherwise you will have to pay the early termination fee. So anytime after the 17th would be best to start services with Verizon.

Do not call or contact Cingular and tell them you are terminating services with them. Go to Verizon Wireless and inform them that you are porting your phone number (moving your number from one carrier to another). Then will handle all arrangements and terminate your services from Cingular for you.

There are no fees when porting your phone number to one carrier to another. That is free.

waiting until the 17th or after is the best idea. u cant transfer a number on a closed account. but i would recommend that u go to verizon on the 17th and have them do it will he services are still active and that way it will be a smooth switch over
