Are currently taking anti-anxiety medication and has anyone ever been able to quit taking it even though you've been on it for a long time.

I have been on 2 different kinds for 9 years and I am weening myself off of them slowly and it scares me.

Yes, please try to get off of the pills. But get a doctor to help you or you will end up hurting yourself. It is true that a guy killed his parents while he was on anti-anxiety/depression pills. I had anxiety before, but i actually managed to get rid of it just by drinking alot of water whenever i would feel anxious, eating a very healthy diet, and exersizing more. I feel so much better now, so try getting off of the pills and try the things i listed. I went to a doctor who tried to put me on the pills, but i absolutely refused and no matter what he said to me he wasn't able to get me on them. They can't force you to take anything. My doctor was also the one that recommended the healthy diet and drinking water and everything too. I'm only 15 though, so things are probably very different between our immune systems and everything..

Well those pills are temporary bandades for something bigger inside your subconcious or your skee... If you fear all this stuff in this world what about when you face your lord... what fear will that bring?
I suggest you don't take a pill.. ehehe breath the clean air and flush your body out with good veggies and herbs relax your mind.. 9 years any doctor giving you those for 9 years obviously thinks your a lab rat... peace out

I have anxiety but I WILL never go to the doctor for it...Because they give you anit depressants that make you crazy! Those anti anxiety meds have driven people crazy. A guy even killed his parents while on them. I don't know I have anxiety but I don't need meds. to make me crazy!

I am. I wouldn't quit without talking to my doctor first though, that's always a good idea.

Bets of luck. I hope you're consulting with your physician about this- it can have major drawbacks if not properly supervised.

One question: If it scares you, why are you doing it? I would hope it is only under your doctor's recommendation.
