They're holding cheerleading tryouts in September and I want to be prepared. The competition is sort of tough. It's performanced based as well, and the squad goes to competition every spring. What should I do to prepare? I really, really want to make the squad!

My cheerleading tryouts are in September too and a friend of mine on the already on the team told me to just relax, stretch everyday till tryouts, eat healthy(espeacially the day before and the day of tryouts). She also said don't worry and stress your self out becuase the more you worry and stress out the more nerves you get the more it will show. So just try to land every flip and keeps moves tight!!This helped me alot and I hope it helps you too!! Good luck!!

It depends on how much you're willing to spend on training. Tumbling classes will really help. Along with stunt and jump classes, you'll be guaranteed to make the squad. Do your research, and find a local cheerleading facility with low rates and take classes there. Ask some of the returning cheerleaders what the requirements are, and then tell your instructor(if you decide to take classes). Go to camps, start exercising! There's an endless list of things that you can do

Stretch several times a day. Do several jumps, work your motions. Try making up a cheer or a little dance. Better still, watch a cheer video and try to learn a dance from there.

Also, get into gymnastic classes if your squad does tumbling.

- have a sturdy ideas-set (smile plenty, be friendly) - attempt to make acquaintances with modern-day cheerleaders (to assist get ideas on what to anticipate at attempt outs) - tone up as much as you are able to (crunches, squats, lunges, pilates/yoga) - artwork on your gymnastics, not having a back handspring or tuck would possibly not shop you off the team, yet having the two stunt might get you on. it won't be in a position to harm.
