Hello, My brother has been in an accident 40 days ago. He was hit by a car, and head was badly injured. He is still in technical coma. I have few questions.
First one:My brother's right pupil didn't wok first 4 weeks, but it does now. Both pupil react very slow to the light. Why do you think it react so, and do you think pupils will react normally to the light again some time? After he wakes up? Or is it because of medicines?
Second question:Doctors say, my brother might not wake up again, that he might be in coma for a long time. What do you think, when he is going to wake up? By the way right side where he was hit, brain swelling is still hi.
Third question:He moves his hands, legs, and arms. By we were told that he might be paralyzed, what do you think? He reacts to pain.
Please help me out, if anybody know anything about head injury please give me contact information so I can contact you. My brother is very important to me and am really worried about him, please help. Thank you.

You need to ask your brothers doctor to answer these questions for you. Or ask the nurses who help your brother, they will be glad to answer your questions. Unfortunately, the longer your brother is in a coma, the less his chance for coming out of it. It is possible he will not wake up again. His right pupil didn't work because of swelling on the brain (especially if this was the side of injury). The swelling must have gone down a little bit, that is why both pupils are reacting now. BUT, they are reacting slowly, which is a sign that the brain is still swelling. The pupils may never react normally, while he is in coma.
Are you saying he reacts to pain? This can be a normal primal reaction, but at least he is reacting. What do you mean he moves his arms and legs and hands. Are these just "jerking" movements, or is he actually moving his limbs? If they are "jerk" like movements, this is normal muscle jerks, he could still be paralyzed.
I work for several doctors, and they believe that prayer is strong medicine. They believe that praying for a patient, actually helps. I know you and your family are going through a difficult time with your brother. You, your brother, and family, are in my thoughts and prayers.

The right pupil coming back means the nerve responsible for pupil dilation/constriction is no longer affected by the swelling in his brain. The sluggishness of both eyes, especially if they are exactly the same, may be due to the medications. My sympathies on the injury your brother has suffered. Below is a website that might answer some of your questions. Ask your brother's health care providers for a couple local support groups dealing with head trauma or coma patients. You can learn alot from others who have been there before you. Talk to your brother, you never know what a comatose person can perceive.
