they can and will eat all types of lettuce and it doesn't matter as to the neutrition value since all greens are processed the same way with in the Koi's body. Koi, like goldfish do not have stomachs therefore cannot absorb neutrients the same way other fish do. Very little at a time is taken from foods which is why koi and goldfish need fed 3 times a day.

Mustard greens, spinach, lettuce of all types (peppered may not be one of the better ones) water cress, and water lettuce are all great for your koi. Oranges, watermellons and lemons are also great for them along with pumpkin and various other gourds.

If your koi are in an outside pond, they are getting their neutrients without your help. They are also eating bugs and algae that are in the pond as well.

You can also feed them cooked chicken chunks (including liver, kidney and lungs along with brine shrimp as added protein.

Carots and pumpkin are the best for the carotines for their color. Feeding them these will really enhance their color and patterns.

Added note:

Veggies are best served to Koi and goldfish raw not cooked or blanched. Since they cannot pull the vits out of the foods, cooking or freezing foods removes these much needed neutrients. Raw is best.

It's not so much a matter of what they like as which to avoid because they don't contain a lot of nutrition.

Romaine is usually suggested, because people are familiar with it. The one to avoid is iceberg. You can also give them collard greens, kale, beet leaves, turnip greens, mustard leaves, and spinach (but only small amounts of this last one). Any dark green leafy vegetable will do. It's best if you put it in the freezr for a while, or cook thm long enough to wilt the leaves, because this softens them (breaks the cell walls of the leaves) so their easier to eat.

You can also use shredded carrots, bell peppers (cubed), peas, beans, or most other vegetabes that you eat, as long as their frozen or cooked first, and cut to an appropriate size.

component of it truly is real and section could not be added variety the reality. particular koi are pertaining to to gold fish. And NO gold fish and koi do not "improve to the size of the tank". this could be a elementary false impression. What happens is noted as stunting and is particularly risky (deadly) for the fish.

I've tried romane but koi don't seem to like it much.

Have you tried oranges? You have to slice them up like a tomato but koi love it!
