Yes. There is a total lack of originality in Hollywood. Everything is formulated, replicated, and duplicated.

It's not that we are unoriginal, it's more that the film industry is playing it safe. Major studio films cost 10's of millions of dollars to make, almost as much to market and distribute. They want their investments to pay off as best they can. By making sequels the filmmakers have an existing fan base they can expect to see the film.

Several of the great directors such as Kurosawa, Leone, Scorsese, and many others have remade films into films that stand on their own. The film industry has always made films that come popular culture be it literature, theater, or contemporary popular figures.

By "We" you must mean Hollywood. They've BEEN remaking films. It's just more common now, because they either ran out of ideas a long time ago, or they're just being lazy. It's an industry, so of course they are going to do whatever it takes to keep people watching movies. But that doesn't mean the people can't demand something different. Let your wallets do the talking.

Everything always has been a remake. All the good stuff came out hundreds of years ago.

Not me!

Let's see -
bright red sparkly shoes
light blue rolled to the knees jeans
yellow tank top with bright red, lime green and aqua blue flowers imprinted on the back
yellow, lime and pink belt
gold band in hair
makeup - so 80's
dull orange purse
with my mustard yellow wallet (it's sooo ugly) I just LOVE to carry in my hand

I would have to say things are uniquely colorful and exciting over here!

No. I suffer from what I like to call "Broken Mould Syndrome". There is only ever going to be the one of Me. And that is all that there is to it!
Cheers!

they remake it cause they know they can make some mad cheese... rather then take a risk on a new concept.
