Did someone take out the transmission last night while you were asleep?

(Come on...how did you REALLY expect us to be able to answer this question?)

EGR valve would be a good call. My '94 1/2 ton stopped cold with a good spark and a running fuel pump. Turned out to be the EGR. Clean the fuel injectors for good measure. Also check the throttle position sensor (I believe just disconnecting the negative battery cable can reset TPS).

OBD scanner can help narrow things down. An OBD code scanner can sometimes be rented from a parts chain--be sure they include instructions and a code reference. The code reference can also be found in the back of the Haynes 1988 thru 1998 (1992 thru 1999 suburban) Repair Manual. I believe your vehicle is OBD II.

Good Luck.

its not the EGR valve. That would just kick off a service light and make it run rough depending on what has happened to it. Its hard to say why it won't run without details.

Do you have any friends with an OBD-2 scanner? If so, see if they will loan it to you and you can read the codes and then go to a chevy parts department and tell the service man what the code is and he will most likely be able to tell you which parts need to be replaced.
