you people are't quite getting it. Depending on the type of albinism people can be quite disabled. you see, the body need some melanin in the skin in order to protect itse;f and adjust to changes in the enviornment. so no it's not like "have you ever met a black person before". Albinism is a disorder that can seriously damage someone.

ok, I'm not saying that albinism is a mental disorder. However, having a perfectly normal IQ and knowing that you are different from everyone else can have a mental/emotional effect on someone.

Given, the fact I did not get the benefit of the doubt in any of these answers, I don't know how I'm supposed to choose a best one.

I'm not sure you're getting it, Kira. It is not a mental condition. There are two people with albinism in my family. They can get "serious damage" to their skin from the sun, and they are legally blind. Other than that, no difference.

The younger of the two in my family doesn't realize she's different yet. The older has had a very hard time with it, but he's going to community college and doing well.

You were not clear in your question; therefore, you did not receive the answers you were looking for.

uhh, albinism has NOTHING to do with mental capability. they are normal people lacking pigmentation in the skin. that's it. nothing else. this question is basically the same as asking "have you met a black person? what was your experience with them? were they different mentally than most people? how did you relate to them?"
