Lets look clearly at the numbers here.
These are the teams that made the playoffs this year:
1 detroit
2 cleveland
3 toronto
4 chicago
6 miami
5 new jersey
7. washington
8 orlando
Detroit will most definitely maintain a good season but might ot get number 1 best record next year
odds: 5-1
Cleveland is improving so they have no chance of not making the playoffs. They will probably win the most games in the east
odds: 5-1
toronto is the easts phoenix with developing young stars in bosh, ford, bargnani etc. and will probably win 50 next year.
odds: 4-1
chicago is the same sort of case with cleveland
odds: 5-1
Miami is the 2nd oldest team after the spurs and some veterans are wondering whether to retire. This is probably their last year. If they can't snag mo williams at the pg and keep wade at least healthy they will not make the playoffs.
odds of making the playoffs: 2-1
New Jersey is a combination of old and new players and has flourished under the leadership of jason kidd. Carter has signed a longer deal so this team should still be in the playoffs altough their seed number isn't sure.
odds: 1-1
Orlando is also a young team with howard, jameer nelson etc. look for them to flourish with the additon of lewis. They are inconsistent however as shown by their end of season splash and could open up to let other teams in.
odds: 1-1
washington: a team plagued with injury but solid players and all stars in gilbert and antawn and a rising all star in caron they are soon to become a force but as rookie teams sometimes do they may slip.
odds: 1-1
Here are the teams that are looking through the glass at the playoff teams like hungry wolves for next season:
new york: with big off season moves and a solid starting lineup new york could climb the ranks but they would have to start as the underdog team.
odds: 1-2
milwaukee: a young team with talent like michael redd and hopefully mo williams they can make an impact and sneak into a lower seed.
odds:1-2
boston: a good offseason for boston has lead them to become a playoff calibre tam with two perennial all stars in ray allen and paul pierce. They will make a run for the playoffs. The only question is if the entire team can support the load and can they work together.
odds: 1-2
teams in the rebuilding stages:
hawks: they have another young team with talent like joe johnson and josh smith. They will try to have a playoff worthy record next season but may settle for something in the mid to hight 30's
odds 1-4
bobcats: they are an expansion team with nothing but young players but with the addition of Jason richardson they can build around him and in a few years become something like chicago with many good young unslefish players or cleveland.
odds 1-4
76ers they lost both of their stars but hope to find consistency and make some good offseason deals and develop their young talent. They may seem out of ti now but soon they will be a force to be reckoned with with talent the likes of iguodala and miller.
odds 1-4
question teams:
indiana this is an enigma to me becuase they have gone from a playoff caliber team to a lottery team with the same talent they had before. If they trade jermaine then they will become a rebuilding team. If not they will have to shape up fot the playoff hunt or they will be back for the lottery.
odds anywhere from 1-2 to 1-5
To answer your question i have looked carefully and say this. New york has the greatest crowds and you guys better be cheering your hearts out. If you do so the knicks will be able to squeeze past the many teams in their area and get into the playoffs.
As for the playoffs new york may do better than expected with many seasoned players and the people of new york behind them. Look at the warriors upset and you will understand why the people of new york have plenty of reason to believe!
alright for saying all that i hope i get ten.

Guys you're missing the point: The Knicks are playing in the ATLANTIC DIVISION. Sixers are still rebuilding and unless they pull of a miracle season (in the East), with A.I. number 9, they won't be a threat. And unless Danny Ainge can give Ray Allen new legs, Pierce a new attitude and get a bench, Boston will be missing the playoffs (of course all three "star" players aren't creators simply scorers: a post man, a three point specialist, and a slasher; but it's happened before). New Jersey is getting older but probably the most likely into the playoffs given their history, while Toronto probably won't make it (unless chance in free agency). Granted this division is still consistently weaker than other divisions, the Knicks are still on the edge of the wall. If Curry and Randolph both explode for 20+, a game, before they explode off the court, I see the Knicks in the low 40s edging in the playoffs.
Ultimately, the Knicks depend on the rest of their mediocre division to lose. If New Jersey can be overcome with injuries and Toronto doesn't gain any more talent, the Knicks have the chance.

LMAO Hell no. The Knicks will make it to the playoffs for advantageous. and that that they had win a sequence. ok, so not a sequence lol yet they are going to make the playoffs. too plenty expertise to not. And remember how nicely they have been doing below Mike Woodson in the direction of the top of final season? Yeah, now they have an entire training camp and an entire season to acclimate themselves to his training type and expectancies of the team. East standings: a million. Miami warmth 2. Celtics 3. Pacers 4. Bulls (they gained't have Rose for a sturdy component of next season) 5. Nets 6. Knicks. 7. T-Wolves 8. Magic

1-2. the knicks will make the playoffs next year. they have the talent to make a NBA Finals run. They need to work as a team. nate robinson is a solid PG who is a great leader and randolph is a good workhorse despite character issues.

Slim. The East is going to be stronger than in recent years. There are already locks in Chicago, Detroit, Toronto, Miami, New Jersey, Cleveland. That leaves two slots for teams like Orlando, Atlanta, and New York.

This is a joke right. How they gonna make the playoffs if the best part of their season is a brawl they started in garbage minutes of a game they lost in the 1st quarter?
