I am talking about the ones that wear thick glasses and study all day long. Is it true that these kind of people are more likely to succeed in life compared to the average person with some other talent like sports or being able to play a musical instrument? If so, shouldn't all parents advise their kids to be like that?

That depends on how you define success. If you define success as getting paid well, perhaps nerds have the upper hand. If you define success as being popular, perhaps "cool" people have the upper hand...

It really depends on your values so only you can answer this question for yourself.

Geeks are usually predisposed to study, do well in academics where kids (like my boy) that are fairly athletic are predisposed to constantly be outside playing ball or some kind of physical game. We have to keep on him to make sure he does his home work, so far he is an honor student (only 2nd grade)...you hope they do well in school and still have a good athletic up bringing...body and mind...

the biggest winners are those who know what their gifts and talents are, and capitalize on that ability. It may be dance, it may be writing, it may be math. Do what you would do even if you didn't get paid, and you will enjoy your profession and life.
That's a winner.
