how visible is Ich? my betta has a bit of white-ishness on his stomach and gills but its not like the white speckles i see on pictures on websites. any help would be great. ps, my betta is quarantined in a seperate tank just in case.

i just noticed what looks like a trail of white goop hanging from his chest, what is it? im concerned

Ich s very distinct and plain. The pictures you have seen around the net are probably very typical of an ich outbreak and probably a serious case at that.

Try googling pics of mouth fungus or columnaris and see if that looks like the white areas you are seeing. If so, you will need to treat with an antibiotic to clear this problem. I would recommend Furanace or tetracycline.

You don't mention the color of your betta, but if it's red or blue then it's quite possible you are seeing opaque areas form. You can google pics of that as well to compare. It's very common and a natural part of the fishes coloration. This can and does happen on other colors of bettas, its just very common and visible on those two colors.

That sound like a fungi of something. Get some melafix or one of the Tank buddy products. Look on the back of the box and match the look to the type you should buy.

I use a product called quick cure that you can buy at walmart
It's made by AP Aqarium Products.
The directions are on the back.
Another product is called ick guard and it's worked for me as well.
