I apologize for my rape question that was asked in anger. My stats, incorrect and corrections LATER cited, didn't convince some and I respect that.
I'm glad that I got rhetoric going though. Even though I didn't agree with all, you made me think about what I was saying as well. And admittedly, the stats I quoted were OLD.

That being said, I want to ask - by just seeing the word RAPE; what does that mean to you? What can people like me do to help in preventative ways or educate that all men/women aren't out to do this?

What can I do to show others that saying this word isn't a joke and not be used to cover up for a mistake?

Another long one - sorry. But appreciate your input.

Happy Bullet - I really appreciate your thoughts. Seriously - I do. Thank you. Forgive me?

Just seeing the word RAPE, like MURDER, KILL, STEAL, TERRORIST -- really doesn't mean anything to a person until A) it happens to them personally; or B) they see the effects on others from the actions of it...

"A)" itself is a given;

"B)" though is a little more tricky...

All actions associated with the such words are violent; there are no such things as peaceful and quiet rapes, murders, thefts; and/or terrorist actions --

Yet even if one is a bit hardened, has grown thick-skinned and/or accustomed to such words -- Still no person worth their own decency can be so immune to the ways in which the human animal continually finds ways and methods to make their violence even more evil and shocking!!

Sorry about your own personal circumstances as they were...

Keep fighting the good fight...But remember you can't change the whole world on it; just your little part of it.

So then by that token, the world as we know it to be and can be is a much better place all because you're in it!!

Good Luck! Take Care!

Peace & Your God Bless!!

;-)

Unfortunately, some will always use/see it as a joke or as less serious that it is. It's a hard thing to comprehend if you or someone you know hasn't been through it. I think it also makes many people uncomfortable to discuss, or even think about--therefore they should find ways to become more educated or sympathetic/understanding before speaking.

Mellie, you don't need to apologize. You are entitled to your anger. And you were right in calling attention to the fact that rape is seen as a joke by some in this forum. As for your statistics being old or incorrect, well that NEVER happens around here! (Lol!)
