I think it is more racial profiling than the relationship. You see racial profiling although wrong in a lot of ways is also a good thing. There are statistics that support the cause. Although it is terrible a lot of innocent people are harassed. You have to look at from the point of view of the cops. Relations between blacks and cops has been bad forever. So the cops even if they are black have some bias when stopping a black man because of the tension that exists. If you watch cops whenever they pull over a black guy they make them put their hands on the steering wheel even before talking to them which is rare when they pull over white people.

Looks like a nice, happy guy to me. Obviously educated (books laying around).

But I totally understand the interracial racism. I am white & my husband is black. I was driving on the highway & had a minor fender-bender. My husband was riding with me in the passenger seat. As we were exchanging info with the other driver (a young white girl), a police officer came up. Neither of us called for the police, so we're not sure if he just happened upon us or if another motorist called 911. Anyway, after he got my info & the other drivers info and filled out the report, he came back & asked for my husband's ID. Why? He was only a passenger! There were no drugs, weapons, alcohol, etc in the car....not even cigarettes, but he ran my husband's ID to check him for warrants....and yes, he was an old white police officer.

I have a very close friend who is a black, female police officer in this city & she told me that he should have never even asked for my husband's ID. He was just "profiling" him because he is a black man with a white woman.

I don't understand it myself.

Obviously, racism is still present in society today. As a black man, you should realize that you'll live your life under a magnifying glass for the rest of your life (especially when you're in an interracial relationship. People in general are going to compare you to their assumptions of what black men usually are (thugs, ballers, etc.) The media isn't much help as they present these stereotypes on a daily basis. I understand that you're upset (believe me, I would be too). However, don't feed into the other negative stereotype we have over our heads (the ANGRY black man) because that's what society wants.

I see a confident guy in the photo.

I actually feel embarrassed for the cops. Anyone that witnessed what happened for more that 1 minute would see how stupid the Police looked questioning two people laughing and having fun.

I see a handsome young man who looks educated and smart. It's very sad that there are still racial tensions in America. I can only hope it doesn't ruin your feelings as a person because of one person doing what they did. Society is so cruel sometimes.
