When telling a story, do you give the extended version?

Depends on whom I am telling my story to. If I am speaking to someone with the type of personality that prefers short and to the point kind of story verses someone who likes to hear all the details and fun stuff or like you said, "the extended version." I also consider gender as well. Females tend to be more into "relationship" kind of stories where men do not (some do but I just note to myself to whom I am telling the story. The factor that I try to keep in my mind is when I am telling the story to observe the persons body language (which they don't realize they are telling a lot) for a very simple example (I could get more detailed) ;-) if you have been telling a story to someone and they are looking at their watch and their feet are turning towards the exit (where as before they were facing towards you) I would just nonchalantly end the conversation since basically their body language is really telling me they don't want to hear anymore. Rarely, I tend to keep it short and sweet.

I have trust issues, especially when talking about myself. I tend to give pieces & wait to see if I can trust. Very few people have my total trust.
