Flat shoes usually don't have any arch supports. Without arch supports you might as well be walking barefoot. If you have a really nice arch in your foot, then wearing flat shoes will hurt you even more. Look inside your shoes and see if it's flat. If it is, then there is no arch support in that shoe. Therefore, your ankle is working harder to support your tired feet.

If the pain is strongest on the bottom side of your foot near your arch, it is because most flats do not provide any arch support. Next time you buy them you may want to look for ones that are a little more than completely flat. You could also buy padded arch support inserts that may ease the pain.
If the pain is somewhere besides your arch it may be because the shoes do not fit you properly, make sure they are snug but not uncomfortable.
I'm sorry your feet hurt, but I bet they look cute, good luck!

Mine do that too sometimes. Mostly because I'm slightly overweight. It's all the weight on your feet. Get a good flat shoe with some cushion. It helps. Also switch shoes every day. Don't wear the same flats all the time. Also, I found out that the sheets were tucked in too tight and were pushing the tops of my feet down, making my feet hurt. Untuck your sheets or get the heavy comforter off your feet. Good luck.

do you use arch supports? in regular shoes there is some arch support but in flats the support is gone and the bones in your foot start to settle flat which causes swelling and pain. it's not good if you develop flat feet, will cause foot problems when you get older

they hurt bcuz the shoe is well flat. u need some kind of support in them so u don't cause serious problems. ur foot is ur base. and once that gets messed up ur ankles, knees, hips, and back will start to hurt. so make sure u get an in sole like dr. scholls or somthing to put in and it should make the pain go away

Flats really dont have that much support. It is like walking on your bare feet all day.

Probably because in real shoes you have some kind of cushion on the bottom of your feet, but with flats your so close to the ground that it's hard on your feet. Maybe?

because flats although cute are um how do we sat it....flat. there is often very little arch support and because there is a minimal amount of heel you are almost walking in bare feet. simply there is no padding when you walk

Because there is no arch support in most of them. Get a pair of Dr. Scholls shoe liners w/support for your arches. They work well. See if that doesn't make a difference. You can get them in all shapes & sizes. See what looks like it would work best for you.
