I have a 1999 Pontiac Grand Prix and the speedometer stop working, i replaced the cluster and checked all the fuses and it still doesnt work. Everything else works but that. I am going to be selling it soon so i need to fix this ASAP. If you know what is wrong or have any suggestions email me. yamaha_4491@hotmail.com

The next thing to check then would be the pick-up/sending unit on your transmission where the signal originates, plug connections, broken or shorted wiring from the transmission unit to your cluster, possibly even your car's computer could be a problem, etc...

If the speedo does not work but the odometer works, the problem is inside the cluster. If both the speedo and odo do not work, you either have a broken wire(s) or a faulty speed sensor in the end of the transaxle. These were usually a broken wire close to the transaxle near where the right side half shaft comes out of the trans. It also could be a problem inside the trans., but that is very rare. This is not a very accessible spot to check wiring, but it is the most common problem.
