My friends account was terminated from Yahoo answers. He repeatedly wrote to Yahoo to ask specifically what he had done and was told that it was confidential. If you commit a crime you are entitled to know specifically what you did. I always thought that in America, our constitution provides us with the right of freedom of speech and if we violate a law at least the courtesy of knowing what we did. What is your opinion on Yahoo's actions?

You have to follow the community rules and they are very strict about it.

Yahoo doesn't revoke you......the participants on the forum do by objecting to people who don't follow the community guidelines..Usually their questions or answers are offensive, so they get flagged.

If you get enough flags, you are revoked....

While this is a public forum and everyone is entitled to express their opinion, you can't use perjoratives, racism, threats, inappropriate innuendo - things like that. Most people on here are interested in the opinions of others and don't want to listen to a bunch of baloney with foul language, sexually offensive language and so forth.

If your friend gets to open a new account, have him review the community guidelines... There is a way to get your point across without offending people.

If his intent is to offend, this is not the forum for him.

Yahoo's terms and conditions also guarantee anonymity to those who flag or turn thumbs down.

While it's true that the Constitution guarantees freedom of speech, it still is illegal to yell "fire" in a crowded theater. With freedom comes responsibility.

I believe yahoo should tell your friend why his account was terminated, although they do not have to, it is in the rules.

You get what you pay for. By the way, you agree to Yahoo's terms of service when you use their service. They can do pretty much whatever they want, especially since you don't pay for the service.

but does anyone have any idea why the accounts are terminated?

Is it due to repeat violations of cursing or blatant bigotry?
