While I was in the US, I've never seen black people eating watermelons more than any other group of people.

As for chicken, everyone eats chicken all the time. So why the sterotype?

I don't understand it either. I'm black, I eat chicken, and once in a while I have fruit. Okkkk, isn't that just about everyone?

Just like the pickle juice drinking stereotype...do you see any black people drinking a bottle of dill pickles with their meal?

Stereotypes are usually meant to be negative, so we can assume whoever makes them up was just looking for stupid things to say about people they don't like.

As far as slaves eating this; slave owners ate the same thing, but escaped this stereotype. How nice....

This stereotype became originated via some racist White human beings, a pretend theory concerning that's what we supposedly consume specifically, yet once you pass to particular places like interior the deep South you will observed that the two White and Blacks savor the scrumptious fruit watermelon and actually get down on some genuine stable chicken, fried, baked barbecued or what ever the alternative may well be. To me, that is offensive once I hear it being commented on in an particularly racist and unfavorable way approximately our subculture. Take as an occasion, those days a female at my interest who happens to be Italian became taking section in a chew of watermelon and in the past that had a slice of chicken and somebody made the remark to her that she's now formally Black for the reason that she had eaten those 2 issues. Now i got here across that to be an particularly racist and ignorant remark. You on no account truly recognize how racist one is till you hear something like this come today from their mouth. it truly is the form of international we live in regrettably. Getting back to your first question: No and actually not will I ever be or sense embarrassed ingesting chicken or watermelon in front of any White individual. What would that say of me if I fed into that stereotype that it truly is ll they think of Black individuals consume so i visit cover and not consume that for the period of front of them? who're they? they don't characterize me, and that i've got not something to sense embarrassment approximately. Frankly, to hell with what they or everybody think of.

There is no reason for this stereotype at all, it's just a way for all racist who are black, white, Hispanic, Asian, Indian...the list goes on, to keep separation of the races alive, nothing else. *u*
