I've been posting in the Religion and Spirituality area and of course many there say it's not possible.

I know in my heart it is possible, because I am a gay Christian.

But I'm interested in seeing the response from this area.

You go right ahead and BE a Gay Christian. Be whatever you are comfortable being and sod the Fundies. It never was between you and them anyways. It is always between you and God and God loves you. Blessings, my Dear One.

As I'm sure you are aware, Christians all over the world disagree on so many things. The Amish don't believe in the use of modern contraptions, but they certainly seem to be very devote Christians. Russian Orthodox, Greek Orthodox and Catholics can't agree on which way to cross themselves. Some Christian churches believe that true Christians must be vegetarian. Some Christian churches believe that the Sabbath is on Saturday, not Sunday. The Mormons believe that their founder was a "latter day saint." And do you know what? There are even SOME Christian churches that there is nothing wrong with being gay. So who are you going to believe? Which Christian church is "right?" Are any of them right?

Some will say yes; some will say no. It all depends on the church -- some are liberal, and some are staunchly conservative.

Most conservative churches will make you feel very unwelcome and unsaved. I've been to many "full gospel" churches, and if anything gets their backs up, it is when a gay person is in their midst. I've had people tell me that I am full of the devil and that I deserve to burn in hell for eternity. I've even been told that I need to go for exorcism. Good works mean nothing (unless you put lots of cash in the collection plate) -- being gay is the worst thing, to them. Yet, other people can divorce and re-marry (with born-again Christians having a very high rate of divorce) and they make excuses for that, saying that God knows the hearts of those people.

I think you'll find that the mutual admiration society takes care of their own -- others will never be accepted.

Is it possible to be a gay Christian? I hope so, because Christianity is based on your faith and beliefs and your sexual orientation is something that can't be changed. Being gay or straight does not condemn you to have to disinherit your beliefs. Your beliefs in life are what you feel no one can take that away from you. Keep your head up and be proud that you are a loving caring person. In God's eyes, that's what matters most. Live your life as best you can and God will be proud. It is what you believe that determines who you are as a person, and your faith is where you can relate your beliefs with others. I know its hard in a lot of places, but if need be, find a gay Christian support group for people your age, they can help you with the struggles of getting others in your community to accept who you are. Just remember that you are LOVED.

Sweetly I think you already know the answer to this question. I can tell you that I believe GOD is love and he loves you and will always protect you no matter if you feel you are gay. If you ask for his help he will be there for you. I am living proof of that. No I'm not gay but I am a sinner and will never be perfect. I keep on smiling because I choose to be happy.

Much love.

According to the bible but not me it says you wont go to hell for being gay but you go to hell for saying you are a christian and being gay. They call it a sin against nature. It says you cannot profess to be a gay christian. I think that is a little to technical there or at least it is to me. This is found in Romans you should read it and interpret what it says to you. Good luck. I'm interested in knowing what others think those verses say.

Of course it is ok to be gay and christian. It drives me crazy when people say being gay is a choice and a sin. If God is "tempting" you with flesh of man, then why aren't all males put through this same "test".

Although homosexual sex may be considered a sin due to the fact that most christians do not recognize gay marriages, God will continue to love you as long as you show respect to Him, others, and his commandments.

The main reason homosexuality was shunned in the first place was because in ancient culture, homosexuality meant no reproduction, and no kids. Christian officals knew that they needed new generation of Christians to continue the religion. However, in present society reproduction is no longer a problem, and in the age of reason people choice their religions.

And to those ready to click the thumbs down on the box below because you believe im promoting homosexuality, get ready for a big suprise on the other side.

I am a Gay and a Christian... although, for many years I experienced a serious inner conflict and self-condemnation. Finally, I was able to reconcile the "two selves" within me.

It wasn't an easy battle to overcome; especially since I was born to a generation that is extremely prejudice and hateful toward gays. For the majority of my life, one part of me was trying to "do away with" the other part. I thought the terms gay and christian were mutually EXCLUSIVE. [ And I think some "loving" christians would prefer to "do away with" gay people.]

BUT - If you care to find more Biblically sound information on the subject, there are two books I can reccommend for reading:

Yes, it is possible to be a gay Christian. You're reading an answer from one-- well, a lesbian, actually. The point is, there are people from the glbt community who are Christians and not ashamed of it.

Hmm, I say it's possible for you to love Jesus and God and be gay. Whether or not the church agrees with it shouldn't be any of your concern aslong as you really want to do that.

I'm not a Christian, but you should be able to believe what you like.

PS: I like the avatar :) Rainbow Cross ftw.

I'm not Christian, but from an outsider's perspective, there should be no way that you couldn't be a Christian.
Despite what an interpretation of the godhead's word may be (keep in mind, despite the fact that the Bible is supposed to be handed down from God, it is still an interpretation by a human that is completely capable of making mistakes and inflicting his own ideas onto God's word), the fundamentals of Christianity are supposed to be acceptance and love for everyone. Don't let organized Christians tell you anything, because religion is supposed to be a personal relationship with god, and not some weekend-warrior madness inflicting your beliefs on other people...or as others like to call it, evangelism.
