Well, the song is a cover of the one sung by Tears for Fears.
Its baout...well, our Mad World.
Its all up to you how you chose to interperet it, because its so open.
Tears for Fears were very big on a political message (being from the 80s and all). I think it was about...well,t he state of the world.
These days, I like to interperet it as depression. Thats what Gary Jules was aiming for, I think.

i think the gary jules cover sounds like he's singing about depression and just being in a 'mad world'
