I wasn't aware that it meant anything, hon. A diamond definitely means something, but other than that, colored stones are pretty much given because they are that person's birthstone, or their favorite gem. My birthstone happens to be light blue. It means I was born in March.
Then again, I'm sure there are customs that have just fallen by the wayside over the years. I can't keep up with it all!!!! My brain is full!
