I think I am making a difference by sharing my knowledge and experience with others here on Yahoo Answers and also on Yahoo 360. I am also careful about not wasting resources, and in general take a "green" attitude. But the "random kindness" mentality has some potential drawbacks. People are suspicious of individual efforts like that: they want to know why you are doing it. The style is too vulnerable to those who would exploit it, as an advertising gimmick or a publicity stunt, or to get people's personal information, etc.

P.S. I just checked the link. Food is mentioned in several ideas. Do you know how often Halloween candy is poisoned? And how often would you give something a person is not supposed to eat, especially if it contains sugar? Or you may trigger a binge for a compulsive eater.

Remember that the best charity is anonymous. Also, the best charity is to give what people NEED, not what you want to give. And most often, what they need is money to buy what they need. Food banks only accept sealed packages, and that is fine, but you really do need to consider the dark side of these so-called random acts of kindness.
