Let's put our Middle East policy to the side for a second. If we were not in the Middle East, and if we washed their feet they would still be motivated to attack us.

Why? Because Americans are free people. Free to speak as we want, free to worship as we want, free to vote, free to educate, free to pursue happiness.

These are all values that these terrorists despise.

Now, let's bring the Middle East back in. If we did nothing else in the Middle East but support Israel, that would also be enough motivation to attack the US.

So, leaving them alone will not work, and appeasing them will not work. In that case, we must confront them and those that support them.
