1996 chevrolet impala ss

i already had the distributer cap replaced
was told by a mechanic that the knock sensor and knock sensor module needs to be replaced as well as have an additional 02 senser added.

The radio stays on when it cuts off so I know its not the battery

Reece When it comes to all these so called modern electronics on these 1990's and beyond year cars,I always stay well away from all the crap they have put in them.But to answer this question have the diagnostics done first and they may provide you with the clue you have been looking for.

Fuel filter clogged? I had a clogged filter on an older car once and it behaved almost like this...if I kept it around five miles an hour, it would run, but when I kicked it up over that it would start losing speed and eventually die. It would always start normally, it just wouldn't stay running when the fuel demands increased!

Its probley something electronic , my car cut out when i was driving and then started back up again , and after a few weeks it wouldnt start at all , and it was the module. Its probley one of the things your mechanic has told you to replace.

Uhh... Fule System.. or Computer sensor.. These New cars have so many electronics it's unreal..
