I thought it was "okay", compared to the rest it was the weakest of the bunch . It didn't "answer" any questions to the obvious things. Like what happend to Haggrid?
Is that new girl a "malfory" she looks it huh?
I love serious black....I just love Gary Oldman.
Its a grown womans "MEOW" with both Alan Rickman and Gary Oldman in the same "medival" looking period piece.

That's for clearing up the Luna character for me. She was just adorable.

I actually own all the books, except the new one...yet I have not read any of them. I like to read an entire series...and when it ends, I will start the process.

I enjoy the movies as "stand alone" Harry Potter movies. I feel no matter the reference, a good movie will "hold its own" intergrety, Whether or not its like the book its based on.

That alone is "how" I judge movies.

Like the whole "Boerne" series of movies, and the books that inspired them.

we saw in a sneak preview on Tuesday and I agree it was not as strong as the others- different director- and a MUCH longer book to try to turn into an accessible movie. I kinda believe you have to have read the book to understand this one. No- Luna Lovegood is not a Malfoy. Hagrid told us he had been off in the land of the giants- the injuries have to do with that. It is hard to make a 896 page book into a movie people can understand. There was MUCH missing from the book that happened at Sirius's house, but there was also much less of "whiny" Harry- which was the downfall of book 5 to me.

I'm just glad the actors have chosen to stay around :)

I thought it was a complete disappointment.

For one thing, it was kind of messy. They went from one scene to another without quite giving an ending or conclusion to the previous scene, and, of course, so much was cut from the book.

But, I mean, one thing is to cut things from the book, another thing is CHANGING the facts of the book. They changed the Prophecy's contents, everyone heard it, not only Harry and Dumbledore, it was Cho the one that told Umbridge about Dumbledore's Army, Dumbledore's and Voldemorts wand make something a lot like Priori Incantatem, Hagrid's tale wasn't properly explained, and there were thousands of other flaws in the story that didn't quite make sense with the world JK Rowling created.

And the scene at the Ministry of Magic was very disappointing. In the book, we see so many things and discover so much, and in the movie, the only places we visited were the Prophecy Hall, the Death Chamber and the Atrium of the Ministry.

Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson and Rupert Grint were great. Evanna Lynch was ok as Luna, but I think it could've been played better. Imelda Staunton was superb as Dolores Umbridge, and the rest of the cast played a good part.

But, well, as a huge Harry Potter fan I'm kind of obligued to like it, and, well, it wasn't thaaaaat bad, after all, just a big disappointment for people who have actually read the books.

That Sirius Black, my dear! I thought it was not being released until Friday. Or is it Friday already where you are?

I have seen enough clips to think you are referring to Luna Lovegood as the "malfory." The name is Malfoy, and Luna is no relation. As far as I know, she does not have any veela blood, which is what gives Malfoy his platinum blond hair. His mother is part veela.

What do you mean, what happened to Hagrid? You do realize, of course, that the book from which this movie was adapted has been out for a long time. But they always change things to make it fit the storytelling of a movie as compared to a book, and so if you don't understand something, you may need to read the book.

The movies have changed directors and producers so many times there is no flow between them. I miss the early films with Chris Columbus as director, they were truly magical then. Now, it's more about the movies being darker and darker, which admittedly does fit in with the progression of Harry Potter in the novels. But the message of hope and camaraderie that you find in the series is no longer evident in the films. On top of that, after Richard Harris died, I couldn't see how they would possibly replace him with Gambon. Richard Harris' portrayal was exactly how I imagined Dumbledore to be. They also seriously need to bring back the original music score by John Williams. It was perfect. I'm not particularly excited about the movie, but I will probably go see it for old times sake. Bring back Chris Columbus and John Williams and then I will be "excited".

Yay for me. It wasn't nearly as good as the book, but I still loved it. The book is one of my favorites in the HP series, and just might be my absolute favorite. They didn't go in detail enough for me. Like there was much more with characters like Cho. It didn't go into detail about when they broke up. And I was expecting the scene when the Weasly brothers caused mischief around the school to be much more grand. But they only had it in one scene and in one classroom. In the book it was all throughout the school, and it was much more grand. And they also left out the special mirror Sirius gave Harry in the book.

Even though I was disappointed with some of the details it lacked, I still thought it was very good. It's really neat to see where the actors have come since The Sorcerer's Stone.

I thought that all the actors were wonderful EXCEPT for Daniel Radcliffe and Emma Watson. They seemed to be trying to hard to act, forgetting about their characters. Luna Lovegood was spectacular, she was an amazing actress, got right into character, kept in character and nailed the character perfectly in all ways: the little mannerisms, posture, facial expressions, tone of voice, just perfectly. The only thing about her character that bugged me was her hair was too blonde.

There was no quidditch. It was important in this one too, Harry is banned to play by Umbrage, Ginny becomes seeker, Ron becomes keeper but is a klutz and causes losses for Gryffindor, creating tension between him and Harry, all this make Harry even MORE angst-y. They also omitted the other doors in the Ministry and the moving statues.

Overall I liked this movie a lot, though. The directing was different and at times reminded me of a better action movie. I don't know who directed this one, but I'm willing to bet he has more experience with action movies. Especially the cuts with Harry running and the memory montages.

A little bit of both. They switched too many things around and didn't stick to the book, but overall it was very entertaining and I enjoyed it.
