I've asked this question before but that was before I knew more stuff. I thought he forgot to put soap in but I have washed his exercise clothes too. They smell after I wash them too.

He keeps his gym clothes and wet towel and wet swim suit in the same bag and doesn't wash them until the evening. He leaves them in there and I know that is most of the problem. I washed them in tide and they smelled okay when I took them out but he said when he was exercising the smell comes back fast. Is there something besides washing it twice that would help? I don't think he will remember to take them out of the bag right away. He can't even remember to take the bag out of his car.

After he's done working out- have him put the bag in the front seat instead of the trunk and bring it in when he comes inside... You can also call him and remind him if he has a cell phone.. Or just let HIM be responsible for his smelly clothes and MAYBE he will remember when he has stinky clothes for workout... However... you can add 1/2 c. of baking soda to the wash cycle with your regular detergent to get rid of the smell... It's cheap and it won't ruin anything... Good luck

We had a house hearth, too. do no longer use inexpensive manufacturers. Tide or benefit works stable. additionally use Downy or different fabrics softener interior the wash. It takes extra desirable than one wash to get the smell out. often 2 a lot. the 2nd load I extra some baking soda to.i spotted 2 issues in this technique. one that i could no longer be the only to envision if the smell grow to be nonetheless there. i presumed I smelled smoke on each thing. (Your chum would be smelling smoke for months). And 2 take the garments out of the bathing area. everywhere you wash the garments will smell like smoke too. then you definately would comprehend if the smell remains on the garments. most of the garments smelled like smoke out of the wash, yet while dried smelled positive. The smell interior the laundry room is going away in spite of everything the garments are wiped sparkling. The cleaners do can charge too a lot. the garments that I sent to the cleaners have been charged extra desirable than I paid for them. (We had coverage so I fortunately did no longer ought to pay the bill.) i'm hoping all is going properly on your chum.

He should change his habits -- If he can't wash the clothes sooner, take his bag away. Put a big laundry basket in the back seat of the car and try having him carry his clothes out of the gym without a bag, throw them loosely in basket after he finishes exercising.

Bleach or pinesol the items.

Febreze for laundry. It works great for me. Just a capful in the washer and everything comes out smelling terrific.

You might try throwing a 1/4 cup of white vinegar in the wash. It is good at killing mold and mildew thereby getting rid of the smells.
