need to build a drill press fence anyone have one? thanks?

just got a drill press for my woodshop. its a table top model. would love an easy build plan for a drill press fence thanks ahead of time.

I've built a lot of jigs and fixtures over the years... for my drill presses, I usually keep a variety of fences available, in different sizes, so I have one appropriate to the work at hand.

The simplest type of fence is an L-shape. You can make this with a couple of pieces of plywood, or 2x lumber, or a combination. I like to use C-clamps, pipe clamps, or vise grip clamps to hold them in place.

If you want to get a little fancier, you can order clamps to fit a T-slot, if your particular drill table has them.

Stops can be as simple as a piece of plywood clamped to the upright portion of the fence... or you can get specific stop sets.... something middle of the road might be a block of wood on a hinge, which you could flip up out of the way when you didnt need it, etc.

Goto Rockler.com and look at their fences, and clamps etc... theyve got some nice items.... and at the very least you can get a good idea or two from them.

Doing nothing because the pay off is down the road is childish thinking. 10 yrs ago the Democrats had a chance to fix the oil problem but did nothing because the payoff was 10 yrs down the road. Well guess what we are now 10 years down the road and see where we are at. Too many people have a "What have you done for me now attitude" Being able to delay gratification is a characteristic of a mature mind set.
