The media really didn't do good. Post 9/11-pre Iraq2003 was very different time. People became 'ultra patriotic' and people really couldn't criticize gov without being labeled unpatriotic. People like Bill O'Reilly were going around yelling if you criticize US gov you are 'bad American.' People simply overreacted to 9/11. No one stopped and said 'wait, may be we should just cool off here for a second.' Bin Laden wanted us to overreact to his attack. And we did.
You ever get really angry and do something you wish you hadn't? We did that as a nation.

i think they have a great deal to do with the lack of support that the general public has for the war. I think its necessary for us to stay in iraq at this point to clean up the mess we've made but it could have been fixed before it started if everything had been handled differently. Basically the media likes to exploit the bad because sadly those are the most viewed stories.

The media is possibly the biggest evil we have in the world.
They create much of our problems.
They will tell war secrets and then question why we are not safe. Remember Geraldo telling his exact location while on parol with our soldiers..?...that wasnt because he was just dumb, its the way the media works..it just backfired on him.
They create widespread panic, and then cover the panic like its actually news. They are creating the news!
My theory: People that create the rain shouldnt complain about the flooding!
Why are there more divorces today than 20 years ago?...media coverage.
Why are there more gay people than 20 years ago?..media coverage.
why is there possibly more racism today than 20 years ago?..media coverage.
Whether you agree or not with any of the above things as being a "problem", you have to acknowledge that the media enhanced all of it.
The media has also created good things..but does the good things they have created out-weigh the bad..?..IMO no.
We could have a weather forecast without Charles Gibson telling us to be mad at GW Bush, and we can certainly be warned of cancer risks without Michael Moore telling us to be afraid of any opinion other than his own.

The media shouldn't "control" politics.
The media are there to provide a forum for discussion, an independent monitor of power, and a fair account of events.
Not to "control" world events or politics. Good heavens.

Absolutely!!! VERY much so!!! These clowns in the media twist the real story so much so that it fits what their editor says should be the truth, it makes me want to puke! What bothers me more than that though, is that, a large percentage of the American public buys into what these fools tell us! We need a drastic change in EVERY aspect of government AND media!!!

Let's face it -- it's tough to know exactly what's going on in national security issues. It's not like many reporters could go into Iraq and find out about how many weapons it had. Some questions were asked, and in some cases the wrong answers were given.

this may be one step closer to a great Brother, 1984-esque, totalitarian nightmare. do you prefer to have a governement implant? did no longer think of so, neither does are protection rigidity, they are no longer migrational ducks, they are people. the fee to place GPS implants, guard, and function may be ideas-blowing. The enemy could desire to certainly and painfully dig it out the quantity of abductions are very low, the media hypes them as much as get rankings. additionally, particularly some people right here seem to think of that are enemy has pretty greater GPS/Landsat hack means and characteristic pretty greater missile inventory. they do no longer!

Yes, when they video the troops showing everybody what they are doing, where they are, and some plans that hurts the US. Because when the terrorists get their hands on it its easier for them. There are more ways to give the people the truth without hurting our country.
